Year 8 Boys
The boys played against Weeroona College, Marist College Bendigo, Castlemaine Secondary College and Eaglehawk Secondary College in their initial Pool A and performed very well, winning all matches.
In the first game, the boys took on Weeroona College, all members of the team came bursting out of the gates and dominated the competition, CMC defeated Weeroona 61-8.
The rest of the matches continued in a similar fashion, with victories over Marist, Castlemaine and Eaglehawk, scoring 38-10, 39-6 and 30-9 respectively. Unfortunately, during the match against Marist, Jett Bissett injured his ankle and was out for the rest of the day. Nick Harvey did a great job leading by example and getting the team through their games without too much hassle. Throughout the day we had Brooklyn Smith, Andrei Bertulfo and Charlie Harrop sub in for the starters for much-needed breaks and showed great defence and offence that re-invigorated the team.
Winning this pool put the boys into the Grand Final to play against the winner of Pool B, Bendigo South East College. This was the boys’ toughest competition of the day, with some solid defence from the opposition making it hard to score. There were some very robust performances from Will Petersen, Nick Harvey, Jett Craig, Max Connick and Mykhail Geary. The final score of 22-12 was an amazing result for the team, culminating in the boys remaining undefeated and now advancing to the next round of competition.
An amazing effort from all the boys who represented CMC with great sportsmanship, competitiveness, and respect for the other teams. A special mention to Jake Gribble, Blaine Schelfhout, Zain Al-Rawi for a great job umpiring matches throughout the day, including the finals.
