Year 7 Food Tech – Delicious Zucchini Fritters

Well done to the Year 7s who have been working in pairs to cook delicious Zucchini Fritters in their Food Technology classes. (Recipe below.)

Zucchini Fritters

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/2 zucchini, grated
  • 1/2 onion, finely diced
  • 1/2 rasher bacon, diced
  • 1/2 cup self-raising flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk                                                                
  • 1/4 cup grated cheese
  • Salt & Pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbs vegetable oil, for frying
  • 2 tbs sour cream, for serving
  • 3 sprigs of dill

METHOD:

  1. Collect all equipment and ingredients.
  2. Grate zucchini into large bowl. Squeeze out excess liquid from the zucchini.
  3. Add diced onion, bacon, flour, cheese, salt & pepper.
  4. Make a well in the bowl and add egg and milk.
  5. Stir until just combined.
  6. Heat frying pan with 1 tbs oil. When pan is heated, add batter to the pan, cooking 2 fritters at a time. Fry until golden, then flip fritter over.
  7. Continue until all the mix is finished.
  8. Serve on plate with sour cream. Garnish with dill.
