Volunteer for Vinnies Roadshow
This is a great opportunity to support Vinnies and children in our local region.
Vinnies Roadshow is a week-long program that provides a fun day for primary school aged children in regional areas. This will occur in Castlemaine on 5 July. Each activity day is attended by a new group of up to 50 children from that local area. Roadshow is run by a group of dedicated Young Vincentian members from across Victoria. These volunteers are experienced in running both Kids Days Out and Kids Camps.
The team will travel from town to town to train local student volunteers who will assist them in running the Activity Days. Roadshow has two main objectives:
- To provide a fun day of activities for regional children aged between 6 and 12, allowing them to join in a variety of activities in their local area, free of charge, whilst also providing some respite for their parents or guardians
- To encourage senior students from local Catholic Secondary Colleges to become aware of the problems in their community, whilst giving them the opportunity to be part of a short-term solution to the problems and introducing them to the good works of the St Vincent de Paul Society.
- The student leaders will need to be enthusiastic, outgoing and have a genuine desire to work with children. At the activity day the student leader will work with the assistance of the Roadshow leaders to supervise a small group of children
