VCAL students lifted by Balloon Footy praise
On Wednesday 11 July (in the school holidays), five of the senior Victorian Certificate of Applied learning (VCAL) students (Vaughan Gray, Rachael Cole, Sinead Gee, Rowan Fitt and Jonty Jackman), together with Mrs Alana Fitzpatrick and Ms Jan Miletic, attended the Scope All Stars Balloon Football Game at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.
We went to support the Bendigo players (Jye, Michelle and Jock). The game was four 15-minute quarters.
The students and staff played a crucial role on the day. We were all allocated specific tasks: Jonty and Rowan were wheelchair pushers for the whole game. Sinead was a scorer for the first half then a pusher for Michelle in the second half. Vaughan was on electronic scoreboard control while Rachael was scorer. Mrs Fitzpatrick and Ms Miletic were boundary umpires.
The students were brilliant. They impressed the Chief Executive Officer of Scope with their enthusiasm and efficiency, as well as the Scope leaders from other regions. This was the first time Scope had experienced students attending during their holidays. It was a glowing tribute and we congratulate the students.
