Subject Selection & PST Interviews

SUBJECT SELECTION 2020

The Subject Selection Process is very significant in the lives of our students. It is an important time for students to make decisions based on their interests and future pathways. It can also be a challenging time, with students requiring support from parents, carers and teachers to work through the range of options open to them.

Following the recent Subject Selection Information Evening, all students should now have a hard copy of the ‘Subject Selection Form’. This is to be completed and signed by the student, parent and mentor.

Years 8 and 12 in 2020

Students entering Year 8 and Year 12 in 2020 will complete their Subject Selection online with their mentor prior to Parent/Student/Teacher (PST) interviews, however you are welcome to make an appointment during the PST interviews if required.

Years 9, 10 and 11 in 2020

Students entering Years 9, 10 and 11 in 2020 are required to book a 10-minute interview with their Mentor in addition to their Subject Teachers at Parent/Student/Teacher interviews.

Bring the completed/signed Subject Selection planning form and the mentor will complete the electronic application during the interview.

Applied Learning Pathway

If your child wishes to pursue an Applied Learning Pathway in 2020 they should make an interview with their Year Level Learning Leader (YLLL) at Parent/Student/Teacher Interviews. You can make your bookings by contacting the General Office at St Mary’s by phoning 5445 9100.

PARENT/STUDENT/TEACHER INTERVIEWS

For current Years 7 – 12 students

• Thursday 1 August 4.00pm-8.00pm
• Friday 2 August 9.00am-4.00pm (PUPIL FREE DAY)
• Location: Marian Centre Gymnasium, St Mary’s Campus, Barkly Street

Parent/Student/Teacher Interview bookings with your child’s 2019 subject teachers and mentor (if required) can be booked via the Parent Access module (PAM). (Please click on link on the right when logging into PAM.)

In the event that you are unable to make a booking with your child’s mentor, we ask that you email your child’s Year Level Learning Leader by Wednesday 31 July to make an appointment to complete the Subject Selection process.

We encourage students to lead the conversations at PST Interviews and explain how their learning in class is going. Download the prompt questions below for students to think about prior to their PST meetings.
