SCHOOL SPORT VICTORIA – STATE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS
Intermediate Girls
On Friday 20 May our Intermediate Girls tennis team participated in the SSV State Tennis Championships at the Boroondara Tennis complex in Bulleen.
The team had played exceptionally well in their previous competitions, winning the Sandhurst and Loddon Mallee days convincingly to earn a place at the State Championship.
The day started with the girls playing a strong team from Forest Hill College. Although they lost the match, they were able to win two of the six sets.
Game 2 was against Yarrawonga College P-12 and the girls were brilliant. They won two singles sets and one of their doubles sets and managed to win the round.
Game 3 was against Maribyrnong Sports Academy. This match was always going to be a challenge and the girls were keen to see how they would perform against this specialist school. All the girls played brilliantly and worked hard to challenge their opposition. Despite losing all sets, they made every one of the Maribyrnong players work hard to earn the win.
For the girls to make it to the State Finals was an impressive effort regardless of the result. They finished in the top eight teams in the State and should be very pleased and proud of their efforts.
Congratulations girls on your outstanding achievements.
