St Mary’s Choir Success at the Bendigo Competitions

05/06/2024

Ten Catherine McAuley College Bendigo (CMCB) students headed off on Wednesday 22 May to compete at the 98th Annual Bendigo Competitions.  The CMCB St Mary’s choir competed against four others in our section (Novice Choir) with less than one year working together.

There were strict performance criteria and our director, Mrs Stephanie McCorkelle, worked with the choristers to compile a program that incorporated an entertaining and balanced variety of songs, showcasing the choir’s strengths.

The College received excellent feedback from the adjudicator, with mostly praise and congratulations and a few areas we can focus on.  The St Mary’s Choir earned a Gold Standard for their performance on stage at Ulumbarra Theatre, their biggest performance venue to date.

A special thank you to three superstars from Coolock Campus, Elyssa Bhowon, Sadie Field and Lukas Toman who stepped up with only two rehearsals.

If you would like to hear the St Mary’s Choir and more from our amazing music students, the Music Department cordially invites you to come along to the annual Winter Concert on Wednesday 26 June in the Marian Theatre – all welcome!
