SPAN Walk 2024

CMCB students participated in the Suicide Prevention Awareness Network (SPAN) walk on 17 March, to help promote awareness around suicide and mental health, to support the message that tough times pass and that support is always available if you are going through a hard time. The students had a chance to talk to people with lived experience of loss and to meet people from different agencies who are available to provide support. They assisted as marshals for the walk and as servers for the community barbecue.

Blue Tree Project

On 3 May, members of our Student Representative Council (SRC) were able to continue their support of the SPAN organisation by attending the launch of the Blue Tree Project at Lake Neangar in Eaglehask. This global project sees trees in different locations around the world painted blue, as reminders to anyone who is struggling with mental health to reach out and to remind us all to check in with the people in our lives.

This project came to fruition thanks to financial support provided to SPAN through the fundraising efforts of past CMCB student Jed Zimmer in 2023.
