Silver for Concert Bands
05/09/2019The Victorian Schools Music festival is a statewide celebration of music for school-aged musicians. The festival provides students with the opportunity to work with leading music educators as well as experience performances from schools around Victoria.
The Festival provides students and teachers with:
- A performance goal for ensembles
- An opportunity to play in some of Victoria’s outstanding concert venues and,
- The chance to hear performances by several groups at a similar standard.
This year the Junior Band and Senior Concert Band travelled to Melbourne to participate in the festival, performing at the Hawthorn Arts Centre. This was our chance to show how regional music is developing whilst performing along-side renowned music programs from metropolitan schools.
Both Bands were awarded a silver standard for their efforts this year in their respective divisions and should be commended for their efforts. Chief Adjudicator Dr Emily Threinen commented that our Senior Concert Band sounds ‘bigger than we are’; a great compliment to our senior musicians involved in the program.
