Principal’s Update – Thursday 10 February 2022
10/02/2022COVID UPDATE: TESTING
Good news for families in that the remainder of our Rapid Antigen Test kits have now arrived and been distributed. Thank you for completing the twice-weekly tests and keeping the College well informed with any relevant outcomes. So far, we have not been too disrupted by positive cases and I remind you that an update is posted on the College website COVID Updates listing the daily number of reported positive cases and classes directly impacted. The purpose of this is to guide your family in monitoring for symptoms.

RETURN TO COMPETITION
Now that we have a better understanding of the rate of new infections, I am pleased to share news that we can gradually add some events back on to our calendar. After careful planning, the students will be able to take part in some upcoming sports events beginning with swimming trials to select students for the Sandhurst Swimming Competition, followed by the competition itself. The Senior Boys cricket team will compete in the Secondary Schools Victoria competition later in February.
All of these activities are outdoors and will take place under strict COVID-safe protocols, with risk assessments undertaken to minimise the risks. Spectators are not allowed to attend and wherever possible students will walk to activities.
NEW BUILDING OPENS
We are delighted that students gained access to the new building at Coolock late this week. The building, which is yet to be formally named, will provide twelve new learning spaces for Coolock as well as work areas for staff. I’m sure the Year 9 students will enjoy settling in to their new surroundings over coming days. This facility will allow the College to remove existing portable classrooms and enable the next phase of the masterplan. The landscaping will continue through early Term 1 and will greatly enhance the appearance of this part of the College.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Brian Turner, Principal
