Principal’s Update
13/06/2019I would like to shine a spotlight on some of the impressive achievements of our students in academia and arts and commend their commitment.
Four students have been recognised for their achievements by receiving Premier’s Awards and two of our bands were awarded Gold at the Bendigo Competitions. We also have a large number of students who are excitedly (and a little nervously) taking part in the final rehearsal for Rock of Ages: High School Edition. It’s not too late to grab tickets to performances.
It is timely also to remind new and existing families that enrolments for Year 7, 2020 are due tomorrow.
PREMIER’S AWARDS
Congratulations to Year 12 VCE VET Allied Health students Kate Boon and Lileigh Rivett and to 2018 graduates Luke Harris (Computing: Software Development) and Matthew McDonald (Drama) who have received Premier’s VCE Awards. The Awards are the highest honour that students can receive in individual subjects in the VCE system, so it is a testament to the talents and efforts of all involved.
It is always impressive when a student receives a Premier’s Award, so to have four students in one year is an outstanding achievement. I congratulate these students, their teachers and their families for their ongoing dedication to their studies.

GOLD FOR OUR BANDS
Congratulations to our Concert Band and Junior Band who were awarded a Gold Standard by the adjudicator for their performances at the Bendigo School Band’s Competition last week. This is a result of the hard work put in by all the students involved, their instrumental teachers and the band directors Miss Ashleigh Yeates and Mr David Turpie.

PRODUCTION PERFORMANCES FRIDAY 14 & SATURDAY 15 JUNE
Don’t miss Rock of Ages: High School Edition, the 2019 College production which opens tomorrow. It is a funny and upbeat celebration of young people wanting to follow their dreams.
The annual production is a highlight of our performing arts calendar, bringing together talented students in a variety of roles on and around the stage in the stunning Ulumbarra Theatre. I urge you to come along and enjoy an entertaining family night out supporting the students.
Students have been working tirelessly in workshops and rehearsals outside of classes on Wednesday and Sunday afternoons. I thank the staff who have given up their time to work with and support the students on their performance journey, with special thanks to the Director Mrs Kerry Turpie, Musical Director Mr David Turpie and Producer Miss Tia Steen. Congratulations to everyone involved on your tremendous commitment to the production, we wish you all the best for the performances.
