Phillip Island Trip – Little Penguins, Bandicoots and more…
09/03/2023Recently the Unit 3 Environmental Science and Geography students went on a shared trip to Phillip Island where we investigated the sustainability of the region and the land use change that occurred at the Summerland peninsula.
We visited the Penguin Parade, the Koala Conservation Centre, the Nobbies and Churchill Island, where our highlights were seeing the Little Penguins up close at night and finding evidence of Eastern Barred Bandicoots. We even received a speech from ex education ranger Graeme Burgan about the management strategies implemented by Phillip Island Nature Parks, and the history of the Summerlands.
We also had the special treat of visiting the Cowes Wastewater Treatment Plant, YAY!!!!
Thank you to Mrs Macintosh, Mrs Macdonald, Mr Angove, and Ms Burke for coming with us.
