Netball Nationals – U17 and U20 Boys

Congratulations to Oliver Ryan (Year 11) and William Whiteacre (Year 10) who were selected in the Under 17 and Under 20 Victorian teams respectively at the Netball Nationals in Brisbane during the holidays.

Oliver Ryan: Oliver was chosen to represent Victoria in the under 17s at the Netball Nationals. This is the first time that he has played in Nationals, which occurred in Brisbane in the first week of the holidays, starting on Easter Sunday. Oliver’s team lost one game and had won draw which left them in second-place on the ladder going into finals. After trailing for most of the grand-final against South Australia, a shot after the siren from his teammate sent them into overtime, with Victoria coming out as winners, winning 62-61 after a great game. In addition to winning gold, Oliver was named in the Under 17 Team of the Tournament in West Australia.

William Whiteacre: After spending the last two years representing Victoria in the under 17s, William was chosen to represent Victoria in the under 20s team. The National Championships occurred in Brisbane in the first week of the holidays, starting on Easter Sunday. William had a successful week playing GS, GA and WA and his team won Silver after being defeated by a strong WA side. The final score was 51-56.
