Mt Arapiles Adventure for Unit OES Students
09/06/2023Unit 1 Outdoor and Environmental Studies (OES) students spent three days at Mt Arapiles for their Term 2 camp experience. The adventure included short bushwalks, abseiling, top roping and multi-pitch climbing activities. The highlight for most students was climbing up cliff faces in excess of 100 metres in small groups, with a climbing guide. During the camp, students reflected upon the influence of climbing technology, different types of risk, how Mt Arapiles formed and the factors that can impact people accessing climbing activities, including physical ability and socio-economic status. To do this they interviewed professional climbers at the campsite and implemented a variety of safety measures in all activities over the three days. Great memories made!
