Junior Girls Football
On Monday 29 May, the Year 7 and 8 Girls participated in the Sandhurst Division Football at the Marist College Bendigo ovals. The team was enthusiastic to get muddy and have fun with their teammates.
Game 1: CMC 5.3.33 defeated Bendigo South East College 0.2.2
In what was a slow start, taking a while to warm up, the girls applied some good pressure around the packs. The players tackled hard and worked well to get the ball into space for the attackers to run onto. Once the team warmed up, the on-ballers cleared the ball with ease, defenders repelled anything that came their way and the forward line found space.
Goal kickers: Chella Fitzgerald, Dempsey McDonnell, Zara Mould, Zarah Reynolds
Best players: Dempsey McDonnell, Chella Fitzgerald, Jordi O’Bree and Alannah Prowse.
Game 2: CMC 4.6.30 defeated Marist College 1.0.6
After a shaky start, the girls settled to play some terrific football, winning the clearances and setting up an open forward line to kick some nice goals. Defenders worked hard to gain front position and win the ball, with some good clearing kicks setting up the attacking moves going forward. On-ballers were relentless in tackling pressure and winning clearances on a muddy field.
Goal kickers: Jasmin Wood (2), Macey Pinner and Zarah Reynolds

The girls now move on to the stage of the competition and look forward to the Loddon Mallee Regionals in Mildura on 25 July.
