YEAR 7 BASKETBALL
Year 7 Boys
Our Year 7 Boys Basketball Team played in the SSV Sandhurst schools basketball competition. The team showed remarkable resilience and determination as they navigated through a challenging schedule.
Game 1: Facing Victory. The day kicked off with a tough match against Victory Christian College, ending in a 35-26 loss. Despite the defeat, our players demonstrated great resilience and teamwork. Lon was a defensive dynamo with some great steals, Asha battled hard throughout and Kahl impressed with his skilful driving plays.
Game 2: A Narrow Defeat to Crusoe was the result in their second game. The team experienced a nail-biting finish, falling just short with a score of 20-19. Archer and Zander were standout performers, with Archer’s agility and Zander’s impactful plays keeping the game tightly contested. Wes also brought at bit to this game being loud and impactful in defence.
Game 3: A Stunning Victory was achieved over Weeroona College. The team bounced back with a spectacular 56-8 win in the first bronze pool round of games. This game was a showcase of the boy’s hard work and improvement. Oscar found his range and Sonny made some good stops, but all players contributed significantly to the team’s dominant performance.
Game 4: Dominating East Loddon, the squad achieved another impressive win with a decisive 36-2 triumph. Louis and Tarkyn emerged as the standout players of this game, with Louis excelling in playmaking and scoring and Tarkin making key contributions at both ends of the court.
Thank you to the organisers for running the day and to all the parents that came to support. Thanks also to the student referees and to Tarkyn and Louis for scoring.
A special thanks to Nick Harvey and Mr Dan Arnott for coaching.

Year 7 Girls
On Thursday 29 August the Year 7 Girls Basketball Team competed in the Sandhurst Division day. The team had a lot of depth and many of the girls already play a lot of high-level basketball. Being able to manage this team was a dream day. Thanks to Rhylee Pollock for her help in assisting with the proceedings on the day.
Game 1 vs Crusoe College: We won this game quite convincingly 64 to 7.
Game 2 vs Marist College Bendigo: This game saw Marist give their all, but again we were too strong, winning convincingly 62 to 2.
Game 3 vs East Loddon: We scaled back a bit to allow for a bit more fluid play for the opposition. Still, East Loddon was no match for us, resulting in a 71 to 6 win.
Game 4 – Grand Final vs Victory Christian College
This match presented more of a challenge, however our team still had a lot of depth to draw on when required and we went on to secure a fantastic win 39 to 10.
The girls can be proud of the way they represented the College and the way they respected and encouraged each other and their opposition. We look forward to the next stage!
