Football Quarter Finals tough finish for Intermediate Girls

SCHOOL SPORT VICTORIA – STATE FOOTBALL QUARTER FINAL

Intermediate Girls

With a nice and early start, the Intermediate Girls headed off to Ballarat to compete in the State Quarter Final against Maribyrnong Secondary College.

Despite slippery conditions to begin with, the girls were able to make an electric start by kicking the first goal with a clean clearance from the middle. The match continued to be a tight contest with plenty of tough and contested football, but Maribyrnong got the upper hand to lead by 3 goals at halftime.

CMC didn’t let this deter them from mounting the comeback. They started to adjust to the playing conditions and link up their play as they produced some fantastic team football. They battled it out right to the end but eventually went down by 18 points. Despite the loss, the girls should be extremely proud of their efforts to make it to the State Quarter Finals.

Final Scores: CMC 4.5.29 defeated by Maribyrnong 7.5.47

The team and the coaches would like to give a massive thanks to Holly Speed and Maree Pearce for giving us the opportunity to represent the College and acknowledge the amount of work they put in behind the scenes to make the experience a success. Thank you to the Year 9 boys who were able to help out with the jobs on the day. We also thank the Year Level Learning Leaders for allowing these students to play and help out across all the days of competition.
