MERCY WORKS
Mercy Works is our fundraising focus for Term 3. Our hope is for students and families to become more aware of the fantastic work that Mercy Works does in supporting many challenged and marginalised groups across Australia and the South-East Asia Pacific region. Mercy Works supports long-term projects which create partnerships within impoverished communities, aiming to foster meaningful and sustainable changes. With this rationale in mind, communities can be empowered to source local answers to global crisis.
Students will continue to learn more about Mercy Works Mercy Connect volunteer program and its current projects in operation, as we work towards supporting them through funds raised on Mercy Day and throughout the term.
WINTER SLEEPOUT
Students in Years 9, 10 and 11 are invited to express their interest to attend the 2018 Sandhurst Winter Sleep-Out at Marist College Bendigo.
The 2018 Diocesan Winter Sleepout will be held from Thursday 9 August, commencing at 5.30pm, and concluding on Friday 10 August at 8.00am (supervised by staff). Transportation will be provided by the College. Students will be required to attend all classes as normal on Thursday and Friday.
The sleepout provides participants with the opportunity to spend a night under the stars in solidarity with the homeless. It highlights the importance of acting with compassion and exercising community mindedness. The evening will also involve workshops on social justice issues, a guest speaker and a shared dinner with students from around the Sandhurst Diocese.
Please email epatterson@cmc.vic.edu.au by Monday 30 July to express interest or for further information.
MERCY DAY AWARDS
Students are encouraged to consider nominating another member or our community for the annual Mercy Day Awards. These awards provide the opportunity for our community to recognise those in our community who represent the Mercy Values in their words and actions. The process is easy! Complete the nomination form on Schoolbox: https://schoolbox.cmc.vic.edu.au/homepage/3641, then email it.
