Eye-opening visit to McAuley Community Services for Women
On 21 August, five female students from the St Mary’s Campus travelled to Footscray to be educated about McAuley Community Services for Women. The organisation provides a house of refuge for women and children experiencing homelessness, predominantly due to domestic violence. They also offer a range of other services including a 24-hour crisis support network. The students were able to take a tour of the beautiful facilities and gain awareness of the issues facing these women.
Catherine McAuley College was grateful to host a presentation from McAuley Community Services for Women for Year 10 students and will again for the Years 11 and 12 students in the coming weeks. We were humbled by the courage and strength demonstrated by the many women who are faced with these misfortunes, to actively seek support and reclaim their dignity.
