Bethlehem visits increase interest in iGen
19/09/2019iGen: InterGenerational Learning Nexus
Visits to Bethlehem Home for the Aged have strengthened Year 9 students’ interest in the iGen program. We are delighted to have over eighty Year 9 students interested in participating in 2020.
In groups of twenty, the students visited Bethlehem Home for the Aged for tours. This allowed them to visit the environment and talk with many of the elderly people who live there. The experience was hugely successful, with both students and residents really enjoying the conversation and interaction. Students now have a better understanding of the program and parents were able to find out more at the evening parent session.
The response to the iGen program that starts next year at Year 10 has been well beyond our initial expectations and shows that there is a strong interest in intergenerational learning and the opportunities it provides for future pathways.
