A Guided Tour in French at the Paris: Impressions of Life Exhibition
30/05/2024The Year 11 and 12 French classes were lucky enough to visit the ‘Paris: Impressions of Life’ exhibition at the Bendigo Art Gallery. It was a representation of Paris in 1880-1925. A French lady, Delphine, provided a guided tour entirely in French so we were able to improve our listening skills and vocabulary. She was super interesting and made sure that we all understood what she was telling us.
The exhibition very interesting as it was as if we had gone back 121 years. We saw the beautiful architecture and parks they lived in. It was amazing to see the number of shops there used to be and how Parisians lived such a fruitful life, full of laughter, circus, restaurants and theatre performances.
There were beautiful paintings that depicted the rich and luxurious history of the Belle Époque. There were incredible pieces of clothing that were very well preserved. Paintings of ‘La Seine et les Jardins’ encouraged us to want to go to France.
