SCHOOL SPORT VICTORIA – SANDHURST DIVISION

Cross Country

The Sandhurst Division Cross Country took place on Friday 10 May at the Sebastian Recreation Reserve. Despite looming rain clouds, we were fortunate to complete each race before the weather turned. Thirty-seven of our dedicated Catherine McAuley College Bendigo (CMCB) students participated, showcasing their athleticism and determination.

Our senior students wasted no time in making their mark on the event. The 16-and-over boys tackled a 4.5km course, which, to their surprise, seemed a tad shorter than usual. Kobi McDonald emerged triumphant in the 17-20 age group, clinching the first place, closely followed by Asher Miller in third position. Genevieve Nihill effortlessly navigated the 3km course in the 17-20 girls race, securing second place as the top three girls synchronised the finish. In the fiercely competitive 16-year-old boys category, Charlie Bannan brought home another medal for CMCB with an impressive second place.

Charlie Harrop clocked in at 10:33, while Grace Mulqueen completed her race in 11:07, both securing commendable second place finishes in the 15-year-old division. The 14-year-old girls showcased their talent with Imogen Brown claiming victory in 11:24, closely followed by Zara Mould in third.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the performance of our 13-year-old girls team. Dominating the competition, they secured a resounding victory in the team event. Mila Childs claimed the win with a time of 11:30, with April Wainwright close behind in second, followed by Molly Beasley in fourth, Emma Colt in fifth and Poppy Carter in eights place.
