What a big week – Opening Mass, Laureate Assembly and our Swimming Carnival!

Thanks, and well done to everyone on their participation in these College activities. As always, there are some things that worked well and other areas that require attention for improvement. Thank you to those who have already provided feedback and we welcome more. Please have a think about what worked and what might be done differently next year and let us know.

2018 College Dux Matthew McDonald addressed the College community beautifully at the Laureate Assembly. His message to our students was that we celebrate everyone’s unique gifts, “the harder you work, the luckier you get” (A pearl taken from past College Captain and sponsor of the Intellectual Engagement in English Prize, Katherine Tehan (formerly Boggon-May), and to immerse yourself in any and every opportunity provided by the College. Matthew’s words fit nicely with this quote from Pope Francis that was included in a recent ‘Communication Matters’ release from Catholic Education Sandhurst:

The ‘wow…’ when students were witness to the number of awards presented to Year 10 student, Deanna Duane was priceless. Deanna won a Mercy Day Award last year, starred in the production, is a current Student Representative Council member and performed at Mass in the choir this week – a brilliant example of someone being immersed in life at CMC!

The same themes will be presented at the Year 7 Information Night next Tuesday, 26 February. We look forward to seeing all Year 7 students and their families.
