Junior Boys
Congratulations to our Junior Boys Tennis Team for making it to the SSV State Tennis Finals on Thursday 21 November. The boys took to the courts in warm conditions, determined to challenge their opposition and play some quality tennis.
In the first round, the boys came up against a very strong team from McKinnon Secondary College. The boys may have lost this match 6-0, however, they did challenge their opponents in most games and had some terrific rallies.
Game 2 against Greensborough College was their best for the day. The team only lost the round by 3 games, as both teams finished equal on sets won – 3 apiece. Round 3, against Emmanuel College Warrnambool, was another tough match. The boys once again proved to be tough opponents as they won a set early and multiple games however, Emmanuel’s depth and shot-making wore the boys down. As the daytime temperature started to rise, the loss meant they could get out of the heat and into the airconditioned car for the journey home by early afternoon.
Despite being a little disappointed with three losses, the team revelled in the opportunity to play against the best school teams in the State. All team members should be very proud of their efforts and results.
Congratulations boys, State finalists is an incredible achievement.
