Intermediate Boys
On Monday 18 November 2024, the CMCB Intermediate Boys Basketball Team competed in the SSV State Finals. Despite a 3-hour bus trip, the team showed resilience and determination, securing victories in two of the three games they played.
The first-round match against Berwick Secondary College was fast-paced and hard-fought. The game was a seesawing affair, with great basketball displayed from both sides. In the last five minutes, the boys’ shots wouldn’t drop, and Berwick really stifled their playmaking. Berwick came away with the win, 50-38. Despite the loss, the team displayed impressive teamwork and effort.
The boys took on Greensborough College in the second round. The team bounced back strongly to move the ball with precision and keep the pressure on Greensborough for the entire game and take the win 63-43.
In the last round, the team once again entered the court, ready to compete. They showed great stamina and mental toughness, to beat a well-drilled team from Ballarat High School, 56 -41.
The team can be proud of their performance, only losing to Berwick, who ultimately lost in the Grand Final by 3 points. The team’s determination and resilience really made the long drive worthwhile.
Another big thank-you to Ms Holly Speed for getting us to and from the venue safely. I wish all the boys the best in their basketball endeavours.
