Successful Sheep and Wool Show for Agriculture Students
30/07/2024Agriculture students from Catherine McAuley College Bendigo (CMCB), Bendigo Senior Secondary College (BSSC) and staff were excited to return to the Australian Sheep and Wool Show (ASWS), which was held in Bendigo from 19 to 21 July.
The students have been developing greater theoretical and practical understanding of livestock husbandry, planning, and showing off livestock and fleece judging in readiness for the ASWS.
Students who participated in the show competition in conjunction with the Polwarth Sheep Breeder Association of Australia had great success showing Polwarth sheep from Moorabbee, Fairview and Riverview this year.
Our students demonstrated teamwork, confidence and showmanship while working with all Polwarth breeders. Thanks to all Polwarth members for their support of our students. Special mention to Kaye Potter, Greg Potter, Sam Potter, Peter English, Maxine Walker and Wayne Walker. Your dedication, enthusiasm and generosity support the next generation in the agriculture industry.
Well done to all students that won in a very close competition in the following categories:
- Overall Junior Handler
- Junior Handler
- Fleece Competition
- Up and Coming Award
Thank you to RB Sellars for their continued support and for supplying prizes.
It is not only sheep that students work with at the ASWS. Special thanks to cattle exhibitors and Phil Hogan from Wattledene Farm for collaborating with CMCB and extending our Agriculture Program.
