Seeds of Justice Camp 2024

04/06/2024

On Thursday 16 May, Diana, Chloe and I set off early to go to the Holy Cross Retreat Centre Templestowe, Melbourne for the 2024 Seeds for Justice Camp. This camp was attended by Year 10 and Year 11 students from Mercy schools across Victoria who have a passion for social justice and want to develop their leadership skills.

The theme for this overnight camp was ‘Breaking Chains’, which had a focus on disrupting human trafficking and modern slavery. We explored this theme through creative and reflective activities with the other students. We were lucky enough to have two guest presenters. Liz Payne from A Passion Ignited and Bernard Dobson from ACRATH. The presenters raised the issue of social inequality in our world and also instilled in us a sense of responsibility to make a difference. As we engaged in discussions and activities, we began to realise that even small actions can collectively bring about significant change. The camp was a powerful reminder that, together, we can create a more just and compassionate world, one seed at a time.
