Year 7 Vases Exploring Flora, Fauna and Pattern

These striking vases were created by Year 7 Art and Design students for their ceramics task in Term 1. They made the vases from clay and applied a decorative surface design. Students explored class themes based on flora, fauna or pattern. Planning included exploring their own imagery and then four potential compositions. Clay work involved forming and joining pinch pots, making and adding a small tube of clay for the neck of the vase. After refining the surface of the vase the chosen design was applied using stain and engobes.
