Football run ends at Quarter Finals for Junior Girls
17/08/2023Schools Sports Victoria – State Football Quarter Finals
Junior Girls
On Monday 7 August, girls in the Year 7 and 8 football team made their way to Ballarat for the State Quarter Finals, where they competed against Strathmore Secondary College.
With the morning dew still around, the first half was played in slippery conditions. Strathmore adjusted better to the slick surface and hence were able to kick 6 goals in the first half.
After half-time, the CMC girls gained some momentum as they adjusted to the conditions and tackling intensity from Strathmore. With this improvement in form, the girls were able to keep Strathmore scoreless in the third term and only give away one behind in the fourth term to win the second half by 2 goals. Sadly, however, they were unable to make up the 6-goal difference that Strathmore gained in the first half.
Well done to all players for making it to the Quarter Finals, it has been a pleasure watching the team play this year.
Final Score: CMC 2.2.14 defeated by Strathmore SC 6.7.37
Best: Macey Pinner, Dempsey McDonnell, Jordan O’Bree and Chella Fitzgerald
Goal Kickers: Louise Khodja and Imogen Brown
