CMC Community celebrating Mental Health Week

08/09/2022

We celebrated Mental Health Week (MHW) from Monday 5 – Friday 9 September,  focusing on the 5 Ways to Wellbeing, with student and staff activities aligned to the five areas: Be Active, Connect, Be Aware, Keep Learning, Help Others.

Thank you everyone who organised, helped with and participated in Mental Health Week activities. Enjoy the galleries below, which capture just some of the fun and learning for students and staff during Mental Health Week at CMC.

Be Active

To promote being active, the Staff versus Student Netball matches were played at lunchtimes. The entertaining games were thoroughly enjoyed by players and spectators alike, with the staff ultimately victorious in both matches. (St Mary’s Monday & Coolock Tuesday).

Help Others

Headspace visited both campuses to raise awareness of mental health within our community. Our Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) students ran a barbeque at St Mary’s, with money raised being given to Mercy Works to help others.

Connect

On Thursday we celebrated R U OK? Day, with everyone encouraged to wear a touch of yellow and to connect with each other by checking in on their friends.

Despite beautiful weather earlier in the week, Thursday was wet. Making the most of this, students and staff gathered to eat lunch together in classrooms and other indoor spaces.

Keep Learning

To encourage our community to keep learning, on Friday our senior students were encouraged to join in the Pickleball competition at St Mary’s and our junior students wereencouraged to try a Meditation session at Coolock.

There were also week-long challenges to get involved with during Mental Health Week, including the Staff versus Student Movement Challenge and the Acts of Kindness Challenge.

The Great CMC Bake Off

Staff popped into the staffroom to celebrate the winning bakers and taste the delicious baked goodies  by our talented staff! Prizes were awarded for the Best Tasting and Most Visually Appealing baked items.
